Encouragement is not praise. Discouragement drains energy, drags on morale, decreases self confidence and slows or sabotage results. 

Well done, encouragement can lead to success for a worker or employee. Encouragement is the act of providing positive feedback that focuses basically on effort and/or improvement, rather than a basic outcome.

 

As a manager you are not only to manage, direct or rule a company/ business, one of your important duty is to inspire, motivate and encourage workers. Only a motivated staffs with full confidence will perform at their best and maximally productive.


Here are 8 techniques to I recommend a Manager to use and help encourage and motivate their workers.


Keep A Smile For Your Workers.



A smile a day is more effective than any master’s degree or team activity for keeping your team United.

Smile is contagious; if people who smile form a good team and have a positive attitude, they tend to work better and put in their best in every aspect of their job. With a smile a good spirit and trust will rapidly dominate.  This, of course will have an impact on reducing stress and increasing motivation and commitment.


Pay Them Or Even More.



The effect of money on human shows the ultimate motivator of all is money. Some people work for passion and most people do their job mostly on the pay they will receive. A workers salary is a sign of how much the company values them. People tend to work for companies that pay highly or steady.

If you can’t increase your workers pay, pay them steadily. A constant income goes a long way in the life of a worker. 


Recognize And Appreciate Their Small wins. 



Small wins are often neglected or not appreciated by managers, these wins include behavior change,turning a profit consistently,landing your first repeat clients- is important for business success.

Managers should know that these small wins are important for recognition and should be appreciated for workers to know that they are making progress towards their bigger win. Don’t just wait for the big wins, look for small wins and appreciate them, and more will come. 


Put Them On Stretch Assignments.



Stretch assignments are designed to stretch workers developmentally. This stretch assignments challenges and place employees in uncomfortable situations in order to learn,grow and be more experienced.

Build Trust And Confidence On Them



Building trust and confidence on workers is a very important way of encouragement. If you let them know you trust them and have confidence in them, they will perform better sooner than you expected. With such trust and confidence they will rarely disappoint you as a manager. A vote of confidence in an office goes a long way in the growth of the company.


Give Them Purpose.



A worker with purpose tend to do best. Motivate your workers by giving them purpose. With purpose workers understand the vision better and are able to execute more strongly. Giving them purpose is important and in addition, by the purpose and the purpose of the business, a worker is better to understand how they fit into the bigger pictures 


Have An Open-Door Policy.



We should speak to staffs and workers the way we want to be spoken to. It’s amazing how a simple “please” and “thank you” fares with workers.Open door policy should be encouraged when it comes to suggestions and ideas. Workers should feel free when making suggestions and ideas no matter their position in the company, when workers feel their voices matters and are put into considerations, they in turn feel confident about their position in the company and that hey have more at stake than just salaries.


Be A Goal Supporter 



The best way to help encourage workers is to help them achieve their goals, be it their career or personal goals. If you as a manager if you don’t have the interest of your workers career or personal goal, then you will never have an effective and loyal workers.

When supporting your workers, you should swallow your pride and fear, even as some prepare to leave the company.
